The Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program was created to provide consumers the opportunity to live freely regardless of their location. Travelling is one of the avenues where the impact of the CDPAP on Consumer freedom is apparent. Consumers get to enjoy the company of their assistants on trips irrespective of the distance of such a trip. The dictates of a consumer’s medical care provider determine the type of trip allowed. The Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Association of New York State (CDPAANYS) members might have heaved a sigh of relief with the news from the state legislature.
